In order to ensure the efficacy of discussions, please ensure that you have gone through the attached checklist (“yes” for all items ) to affirm discussion readiness, before commencing on the process below.
Checklist

Here is the process (chronological order)before I enlist learners under my tutelage:

1. Interaction with parents to have a sense of parents’ goals and expectations.
During this stage, I will ascertain if the parents’ goal and mine is aligned. Once achieved, I will proceed to explore the lesson preferences (weekdays or weekends).

2. Interaction with students to assess suitability and aptitude.
At this stage, a verbal conversation as a litmus test, to establish rapport with the student. This may include a physical meeting with the parent and student. As my website already contains about 80% information of my style and expectations, parents are encouraged to ascertain that my vision is aligned with yours as in part (1), and that the probability of working together is high (90%), before arranging for a meeting. Parents must also be aware of what they are looking for in an educator. This will ensure that parents’ time is fruitfully engaged.
It is important that during this session, which is meant familiarisation, the child sits in to listen to the discussion, as well as to voice out any queries. This will also help to build up basic rapport for the prospective first session.

3. Determination on time slot and rates.
If everything falls in place, this will be the concluding step to affirm a partnership with the parents and student.
